ASUU EXTENDS WARNING STRIKE BY 8 MORE WEEKS TO GIVE FG MORE TIME

University lecturers in Nigeria has extended the ongoing strike by another eight weeks.

One of the official of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has confirmed that the Union has extended the strike, Saying the Government has not given heed to their demands.

This announcement is coming as the one month warning strike being announced last month expires today Monday, 14, March 2022.

Prof. Abdulkadir Muhammad Danbazau, said the decision to extend strike is to allow the union and government reach an agreement in other to avoid any other strike in future.

He said two months is enough to for government to do the right thing on the matter.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, began a one month warning strike on February 14 2022 to demand for better condition of service agreed in the 2009 agreement.

 

They also demand that the government quickly approve their payment system, Which is the University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS) to pay their salary instead of IPPIS the government uses.
